Note: Much of the information on this page pertains to the submission and voting phase of the Capture Ventura County project. That phase has come to an end. However, please feel free to read up and see how the project came together.
We admit it. We're a bit spoiled. With the beautiful Topa Topa mountains as our backdrop, the majestic Channel Islands in our backyard and the sandy beach at the tips of our toes, who wouldn't want to call Ventura County home?
The Ventura County Star has proudly served as Ventura County's local newspaper since it began as the Star-Free Press back in 1925. An E.W. Scripps owned newspaper, our newspaper reaches over 250,000 readers every Sunday and nearly 600,000 monthly visitors through our web site, VenturaCountyStar.com. Our award-winning journalism, website, news photos and multimedia video presentations (plus our famous "beach cam") are just some of the ways we work to keep our community informed.
Our great staff of more than 350 employees is engrained in the local communities where we are fortunate to live and work. Publishing our daily newspaper, managing our web site, distributing our monthly women's magazine, skirt! and our weekly spanish-language publication, Fronteras plus producing our ever growing family of products keeps us busy. But we manage to find time to mountain bike, hike, golf, surf, spend time with our families, do volunteer work, and enjoy the many amenities Ventura County has to offer.
We're pleased to be working with Pediment Publishing on this new project. We partnered with these creative, hard working folks over the past few years to bring you the beautiful, photo history books Ventura County: Looking Back, Vol. I & II capturing our communities in its earliest days.
We look to you now for your photo submissions spotlighting our people, our landscape, our buildings, and yes, even the sand between your toes to show the world our home.
